Dr Bronwyn King, Radiation Oncologist, has taken on big tobacco, encouraging over 33 of the big superannuation funds to divest themselves of tobacco shares - an incredible achievement on top of her role in medicine.
Dr Homa Forotan arrived in Australia as a refugee, after her family fled Afghanistan. 2008’s Young Queenslander of the Year, Dr Forotan is now a junior physician at Princess Alexandra Hospital studying cardiology, and works tirelessly in the Brisbane community advocating for refugees.
Dr Nikki Blackwell was a Specialist in palliative care and the Director of the Emergency Department in Mount Isa. She also worked for many years for Medicins Sans Frontiers in humanitarian emergencies in Haiti, Pakistan, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Bandah Aceh, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Iraq, Iran and Jordan.
