New President installed at Dinner for the Profession

Associate Professor Erica Gannon was officially installed as President at Friday night's Dinner for the Profession.

Guests stepped into an enchanting forest inspired experience at Brisbane's Blackbird Bar and Grill, where the medical profession came together to celebrate excellence, leadership and the future of medicine in Queensland.

Associate Professor Erica Gannon and Dr Sarah Coll were welcomed as AMA Queensland's new President and Vice President. The new Board and Council were officially announced at the preceding Annual General Meeting.

Guiding guests through the evening was internationally renowned storyteller, filmmaker and adventurer Dr Chadden Hunter, who captivated the audience with stories from more than two decades spent filming wildlife documentaries alongside Sir David Attenborough. His inspiring reflections on growth, adaptability and connection perfectly complemented the evening's enchanted forest theme.

As the evening unfolded, AMA Queensland recognised outstanding achievements across the profession through the presentation of the following awards:

  • AMA Queensland Gold Medal - Professor Christopher Pyke
  • Excellence in Health Care Medal - Professor James Nicklin and Dr Lydia Pitcher
  • Rural Health Medal - Dr Dan Halliday
  • Doctor in Training Medal - Dr Emma Hodge
  • Distinguished Supporter Member Award - Melissa Impiazzi

Set against sweeping views of the Brisbane River and city skyline, the Dinner for the Profession provided an opportunity for members, colleagues and friends to reconnect, celebrate shared achievements and reflect on the strength and evolution of the medical profession.

Please note guests will be sent a link in the Dinner for the Profession wrap-up email so they can download their event photos.
