Vision: AMA Queensland is the peak representative association of medical professionals incorporating strong commercial partnerships and with a united substantial and significant membership that is highly respected by internal and external stakeholders.

Role of Director
AMA Queensland Directors carry certain responsibilities additional to those of councillor, including financial overview of the organisation:

· Each member of the Board of Directors must comply with all obligations and duties imposed on them as director of the Association under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).

· The Board of Directors must carry out the general policy of the Association and generally administer the affairs of the Association in compliance with this Constitution, the By-Laws & represent the Association on all matters of policy with government or other bodies or persons.

· The Board of Directors may exercise all powers and do all things which the Association may do which are not required by any statute, this Constitution or the By-Laws to be exercised or done by a general meeting or any other person(s).

· Minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors must be sent to all members of the Council

Council

Role of a Councillor

The council is responsible for:

• Determining questions and matters of policy for the Association;

• Making By-laws about ethical considerations (including handling complaints related to the profession);

• Making recommendations to the board of directors about representing the Association on all matter of policy with government or other stakeholders.

Additionally councillors have an internal role to assist the Member Relations Department, along with other Departments within the Secretariat, with recruitment and retention exercises including contacting new members to welcome them as new AMA Queensland members; drafting Council reports for members in your geographical or craft group – with a focus on specific geographical/craft group issues; participation on relevant Council Committees and providing timely feedback on policy and political statements as distributed.
